This year I had the pleasure of being the official photographer again for the Port Adelaide Twilight Parade, the annual Christmas Parade that adds lots of colour and fun to the Port region , alongside many other great events held in the area. It is a really fun event to cover due to the plethora of smiling faces and lively activities. The fact that the event runs through twilight to early evening means that the varying lighting offers a great palette of colours and range of lighting opportunities. You can see some of the variety here ::
Beside the parade itself, which has the typical range of floats by business and community groups, there is an after-party that is absolutely full of family activities and opportunities for entertainment. I loved being there as a photographer but at the same time wished I was there as a parent with the family! Here is a sample of some of the images from the event ::

:: Fireworks ::
The event finished off with a wonderful fireworks display. I tried to capture the fireworks along with the people and waterside location, so I was moving around during the display to try to get a few vantage points. It was great fun to anticipate the position, colour range, composition and intensity of the fireworks to capture them in a range of images. Here are a few examples :
I was pretty exhausted after the shoot. Having to run around a reasonably vast area with multiple cameras and a heavy camera bag meant I had really sore shoulders for a couple of days after the event! It was so rewarding though and the client (the local council) is happy with the range of images captured. Hopefully they make good use of them to promote the event next year. I plan to drag my family along next time...maybe I can persuade one of the kids to help carry my bags?
